Return

As New York City's white snow inevitably turns to brown slush and the bitter cold remains, we hope our Getaway Collection give you some reprieve, some warm thoughts, and even gets you thinking about, 'Where to Next?'

This time, our answer is Hawai‘i.

Earlier this month, Steven from Sabah’s Creative Team returned home to O‘ahu’s North Shore to spend time with family and friends. We designed a collection just for this trip and for any warm weather getaway on your horizon. Sabahs, sandals and soft goods that are as practical as playful; where color & pattern meet function and for the kind of place that’s as active as it is laid back, and almost always warm. The collection is available now on the Sabah Portal and at our Sabah Houses.

Read on to experience Steven’s trip. Told in his own words and seen through the lens of his friend and local photographer, Desmond Centro.

Enjoy!

Back Home, Unchanged.

By Steven Stinson

I’m originally from Mililani, Hawai‘i, and for the past two years I’ve been spending extended time on the North Shore — a place that feels increasingly rare and special. It’s deeply preserved, largely unchanged, and still rooted in a slower, more grounded way of life. That continuity is what makes it so uniquely beautiful.

I’ve been staying with my best friend Evan Mock’s family, who live on a point overlooking Waimea Bay — an iconic stretch of coastline known for big wave surfing and the famous rock jump into the ocean. Also a perfect place to shoot this collection.

We also shot in Pupukea, up on the hills of the North Shore, where everything turns lush and green and you get sweeping views looking out over the coastline. We happened to shoot on a stormy day, which gave us a chance to show Hawai‘i in a different light — moody, dramatic, and incredibly vibrant.

The rain brought out the richness of the greens, and we leaned into the weather rather than fighting it.

One of my favorite details from the shoot was using one of our model’s old Toyota Corolla. In Hawai‘i, cars aren’t about status or having the newest thing —they’re about character, efficiency, and longevity. Cars are often passed down through families, from parents to kids to grandkids.

It felt like a perfect, honest reflection of local life.

We wanted to capture our new collection (of Sabahs, Babas, Sandals, peshtemals, bandanas and our first-ever pareo) with the feeling of a simple, soulful getaway to Hawai‘i — rooted in place, texture, and lived-in beauty, just like these products we craft. Coming back home to Hawai'i gave us just that -- and I hope it always will.

Time to Getaway.

Check out the Getaway Collection now on the Portal and at all Sabah Houses.

Featuring the Porto and Lido Sandals in Jaipur Rose, sand-inspired Kalahari suede Sabah and Babas, new Peshtemals in Dusk, Jade and Rose, our Garden and Lattice bandanas, and our first-ever pareo in Rain and Marigold -- the latter pieces being block printed in Jaipur, India.
