Hi Sabah People - a couple of weeks ago, we traveled from New York to El Paso to visit the Sabah Workshop.
We arrived just as production of our latest Wovens Collection was in full swing.
Making a pair of Woven Babas takes time - several days & many sets of hands from start to finish, and our El Paso team spent much of July preparing for the release of our newest Woven Baba collection, which becomes available on Sunday.

At the Sabah Workshop.
Our Woven Babas are defined by their exceptional leather. Each panel is handwoven by generational artisans in Chennai, India, using full-grain, vegetable-tanned hides. The leather is carefully dyed to create rich, vibrant color, with natural variations from strip to strip and hide to hide, which given this already special shoe even more character.
The panels arrive from India to our El Paso workshop. From there, we cut them into uppers that then, over many days, we craft into Babas.

He's one of our workshop's Maestros — the title reserved in El Paso's shoemaking factories for those who have reached the highest level of their craft.Watching Jesús work never gets old. The skill, patience, and care behind every pair is remarkable.
While Jesús handles arguably the most difficult part of the process: lasting -- each Woven Baba moves through several sets of hands to completion: cutting, sewing, skivving, sole trimming and more. We took a moment to capture portraits of each of them, alongside their hands at work.
Our team in El Paso spent most of July preparing our new Woven Baba collection. They'll be available starting Sunday. Stay tuned!
